About Department :

           In order to the commerce course relevant to the present day business needs, Karnataka University, Dharwad took a revolutionary step by introducing “Computer Application in Business” as the compulsory subject for B.Com students in the year 2000. This paved the way for the establishment of the Department of Computer Science in the year 2000 in our college. Subsequently Computer Science was introduced by the Karnatak University, Dharwad as the compulsory subject for BA/ BSc IV semester in 2006-07. Realizing the importance of the Computer Science the management of KRCE Society, Bailhongal introduced “COMPUTER SCIENCE” as one of the optional subjects for B.Sc. Course. Prof. Veeresh N Kulkarni was the founder Head of the Department. He is assisted by two Guest Lecturers. The department is fortunate enough to have adequate eminent well qualified and dedicated faculty. Apart from teaching the teachers are actively engaged in providing exposure to learning towards contemporary topics.

           Our college imparts undergraduate education for B.A./ B.Sc. / B.Com.  1^st semester to 6^th semester. Students after passing 10+2 or equivalent examination are eligible to seek admission to the 1^st Semester. Our College primarily situated in rural area attracts students of middle class and poor class. Parents of these students are mostly farmers, village artisans, daily wage earners, petty businessmen and salaried class. Most of the students are well versed in Kannada and Hindi languages.

           Karnataka University, Dharwad introduced semester system in the year 2005-06. Under the new system the syllabus has been thoroughly revised. The new syllabus has proved to the very helpful to the students, in framing their future career.

Learning Resources of the Department: There are 321 volumes and Journals / periodicals of Computer Science in the Central Library. There are 22 computer systems in the Computer Laboratory.

Modern Teaching Methods: Modern teaching tools such as LCD Projectors, Smart boards and Internet are regularly used by our teachers and students.

Participation of teachers in academic and counseling of students: Department teachers actively participate in academic counseling of students by helping them in choosing the course selection of optional subjects etc., They also provide personal counseling regarding higher education and employment opportunities.

Faculty Development Programs: The teachers have attended the Refresher Courses, Orientation courses and several seminars, conferences and workshops at the national and state level.

Participation / Contribution of teacher to the academic activities: The teachers have delivered the lecturers in the Inter-Disciplinary Programs.
